I want to export construction  products to Japan. What Japanese laws, standards, and certifications apply?

The applicable requirements depend on the type of product, its intended use, and where it will be used in Japan.

Some products must comply with Japanese laws, and on top of that, others are expected to meet Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) or other technical standards. In certain cases, certification or government approval may also be required before a product can be used or accepted in the Japanese market.

There is no single set of requirements that applies to all construction products. A product-by-product technical assessment is usually necessary to determine the applicable laws, standards, and certification requirements.
